History of Empire Watch Company

Empire Watch Company traces its roots back to 1947—the year India gained independence. The late Mr. K.C. Diwan, a refugee in the city of Meerut at the time, founded his wristwatch business, Krishna Watch House, drawing on his experience as a wristwatch seller and repairer in his homeland of Pakistan.

The business was later passed down to his youngest son, Mr. Vijay Diwan, who led a major expansion by opening four wristwatch stores across Meerut.

In 1996, Mr. Vijay took the business global with the formation of Empire Watch Company. Known for having sold over a million wristwatches in Meerut, the company gained recognition from international wristwatch brands, leading to partnerships for distribution in the city.

Further growth included the establishment of Empire Watch Company (North) in 2009 and Empire International in 2010.
